Het Netwerk Positieve gezondheid in de Noordelijke Maasvallei is eind 2013 enthousiast van start gegaan om te gaan werken met het concept Positieve Gezondheid. Zij realiseerde zich dat het centraal stellen van Positieve Gezondheid een grote impact kan hebben op professionals en burgers, maar ook op de organisatie en financiering van gezondheidszorg en welzijn. De hoofddoelstelling van dit VIMP-project bestaat uit het beschrijven van het proces dat het Netwerk Positieve gezondheid heeft doorlopen, om tot een regionaal implementatieplan te komen, zodanig dat ook andere regio's hiervan kunnen profiteren. Hiermee wordt in kaart gebracht wat er nodig is binnen de regionale organisaties om de noodzakelijke cultuuromslag te maken, welke keuzes er worden gemaakt, hoe stappen worden gezet, welke hobbels en weerstanden men tegenkomt en wat daarvoor goede oplossingen zijn. Er werd een kwalitatieve studie verricht met vragenlijsten en semigestructureerde interviews onder alle leden van het Netwerk Positieve gezondheid. Het proces kenmerkte zich door eerst te dromen en elkaar te vinden in een gemeenschappelijke visie, om daarna in kleine sub werkgroepen concrete stappen te zetten richting een gezamenlijk implementatieplan. Het ontwikkelen en creëren van het regionale implementatieplan werd gezien als een essentiële concrete stap. Hiertoe is tijdens de onderzoeksperiode een eerste aanzet gemaakt. Er zijn o.a. stappen ondernomen om een eenduidige positionering en communicatie over Positieve Gezondheid tussen burgers en professionals te bewerkstelligen. Het inzichtelijk maken van de mogelijke hobbels en weerstanden, en daaruit volgend de discussiepunten en mogelijke oplossingen hiervoor, vanuit de ervaringen van het Netwerk, kunnen leiden tot sterkere samenwerking tussen de organisaties en een concrete vertaling van het concept Positieve gezondheid naar de dagelijkse praktijk. Deze ervaringen kunnen dienen als voorbeeld en inspiratie voor alle betrokkenen uit de regio, als ook voor personen en partijen uit andere regio's die aan de slag willen gaan met Positieve gezondheid.
Adopting the new concept of "Positive Health" may have considerable implications for health professionals and citizens , as well as for the organisation and funding of health care and welfare services. Based on this insight, the Network for Positive Health in the Noordelijke Maasvallei (Dutch province of Limburg) explored how to implement the concept of Positive Health in the region. The main objective of this project (2013-2015) was to document the processes involved in developing a regional implementation plan, such that this information may be of use to other regions. As part of this objective the Network explored how to achieve the required cultural shift within regional organisations, identified the choices to be made and steps to be taken, and explored solutions to overcome hurdles and resistance. All members of the Network (a broad coalition of regional healthcare providers, patient groups, welfare organisations, hospitals, care centres, health insurance companies and researchers) participated in a qualitative study including questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Brainstorm sessions were held to develop a shared vision, after which various working groups were formed to take concrete steps towards a common implementation plan. Development of a regional implementation plan was considered essential. Steps were taken to ensure a clear positioning and definition of Positive Health in the communication between healthcare professionals and citizens . Furthermore, we identified potential hurdles and related issues, and explored possible solutions based on the experience of Network members. These insights will promote collaboration between organisations and help to translate the new health concept to daily practice. The experiences described in this report may serve as a guide for all stakeholders in the region, as well as inspire individuals and organisations in other regions to get started with Positive Health.
